Why This Exists
We Built The Shop We Could Not Find
Two brothers who cared more about the car than the ticket, leaving shop after shop with the same feeling. The work was usually fine. The way it was done was not.

Circa June 2022
It started the night we bet on ourselves
David had just finished his first year of college and hated every minute of it, chasing a degree that gave him nothing back. Elias was heading into his junior year of high school and never believed in the traditional route either. What Elias did believe in was cars. The detailing, the protection, the craft of taking a finish somewhere it had not been before.
- David was 18. Elias was 16. Neither of them had run anything before.
- The LLC was formed that same night, before either could talk the other out of it.
- The first shop was under 1,000 square feet in Wixom, Michigan, with bare brick walls.
- Every piece of equipment they could afford was ordered inside the first week.
Two kids from Farmington Hills, zero business experience, and a belief that would not let go.

The years that set the standard
Within days the first lesson landed. A business is not built on enthusiasm, and none of it happens overnight. Long days became longer nights while two teenagers taught themselves to run a real company in real time, on cars belonging to people who knew where to find them.
- Nothing was ever subcontracted, because in the beginning there was nobody to subcontract to.
- Every mistake came out of the same pocket that paid for the film, which is a fast way to learn.
- The first clients were neighbors and friends of the family, so a rushed job was not survivable.
- Farmington Hills raised both brothers, and the Woodward Dream Cruise is where the obsession started.
That part never changed. Same two brothers, same standard, a bigger building and a team of specialists behind it.
The Standard
What quality over quantity actually means here
Every shop in this category says some version of it. The test is what a shop gives up to keep it true, so here is what we give up, in three decisions made on every vehicle.
No shortcuts
Film edges are tucked behind panels wherever the panel allows. Trimming the edge on the paint is faster, and it is the first place a film lifts two winters later.
Paint is corrected before a coating goes over it, never sealed underneath one. A coating locks in whatever sits beneath it, including the swirls.
Hours per vehicle that a faster shop bills as profit.
No rushed installs
One vehicle gets one bay and one specialist for as long as the job takes. We do not stack three cars on a technician and hope the day works out.
If a job needs another day you hear it beforehand, not when you turn up for the keys. A moved date is annoying. A rushed finish is permanent.
Volume. We turn away work we cannot do properly that week.
No compromises
Every finished vehicle is inspected under dedicated lighting by the manager who owns that bay. Nothing leaves on someone saying it is probably fine.
If it is not right it does not go out. That call is ours, because you should never have to be the quality check on work you paid for.
Rework we absorb rather than hand to the client.
Those three lines have been on the wall since the Wixom shop. They are why the studio runs by appointment and not as a queue.
How The Studio Runs
Specialists, not generalists
Ascension is two founders and a team of specialists. Every service has its own people, and those people do that one thing all day. The person cutting film on your car cuts film for a living. That focus is why the finish still holds up in year three.

From a brick box to a 5,000 square foot studio
Ascension Automotive secured the Milford building before the summer of 2024. Five thousand square feet, climate controlled all year, which is the difference between a coating that cures properly in February and one that does not.

Monday to Friday 9 to 6, Saturday 9 to 2, and we are closed on Sunday. Messages that arrive during business hours are usually answered within minutes. Do you take walk ins?
No, and that is deliberate. Every vehicle is booked into a dedicated bay with a dedicated specialist, so taking a car off the forecourt would mean interrupting one already promised that slot. Reach out first and we will find a time, usually sooner than you expect.
How do you price the work?
Every vehicle is quoted individually. The investment depends on the size of the car, how much of it you are covering, and what condition the paint is in on arrival. A compact coupe and a full size SUV are different pieces of work, so a published figure would be wrong for most people reading it. Send your year, make and model and we come back with a firm number.
